Latin name: Poecile atricapillus

A bird almost universally considered “cute” thanks to its oversized round head, tiny body, and curiosity about everything, including humans.

Its habit of investigating people and everything else in its home territory, and quickness to discover bird feeders, make it one of the first birds most people learn.

Chickadee calls are complex and language-like, communicating information on identity and recognition of other flocks as well as predator alarms and contact calls. The more deenotes in a chickadee-dee-dee call, the higher the threat level.

This information is from All About Birds if you’re interested in learning more!

The Black-Capped Chickadee is a variegated colorway made of black, gray, a buff nude, and creamy white.

All skeins are hand-dyed with care in a smoke-free and pet-free home. Please note that while all skeins are dyed together, every skein of yarn is unique and there may be some slight variation between them. After dyeing, all yarn is washed and rinsed thoroughly, however, a small amount of color bleeding may still occur during the first wash.

For best care, please gently hand wash in cold water with a wool wash and lay flat to dry. Store yarn in an area away from direct sunlight to help maintain color.

This yarn is PREORDER only. Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for the turnaround time (this time will be more accurately adjusted once the preorder window is closed)

All photographs are taken in natural light, and I try to keep the editing to a minimum, but colors may vary from monitor to monitor.

The wool used in this yarn is ethically produced from sheep that have NOT been mulesed.
