531 Diamonds - PREORDER

The Petit Trianon stands before us, statuesque and enchanting. We follow the ladies inside, finding there are others lingering here and there. They’re enjoying everything from music to a board game of some kind. 

“Have you seen the key?” One of the ladies asks me. 

“The key?” I ask. 

“Oh, you must see it, it’s positively enchanting!” she says. 

Hurrying up to Marie Antoinette, the woman says, “You must show them the key.” 

I’m a little confused but curious when the Queen laughs and agrees. In her private quarters, she pulls out a box with a key inside. It is no ordinary key, but a large key with intricate filigree, and a ribbon covered in diamonds. 

“This is the master key,” Marie Antoinette says. “Louis presented it to me when he gifted me the Petit Trianon. There are 531 diamonds on it.” 

“So there are,” you say. 

From here, it almost looks like the diamonds shimmer with a pale pink gleam. 

“A masterpiece in the neoclassical style, the "Petit" Trianon was designed by Ange Facques Gabriel between 1762 and 1769. Built as a place of leisure for Louis XV on the initiative of Madame de Pompadour, she never lived to enjoy it as sbe died in 1764.

In 1774 Louis XVI presented the property to his wife with title deeds in the form of a pass-key on a ribbon studded with 531 diamonds. Mindful of the memory of Marie-Antoinette, whose presence here is more tangible than anywhere else in the palace, in 1867 Empress Eugenie gathered together a small museum dedicated to the guillotined queen.”

All skeins are hand-dyed with care in a smoke-free and pet-free home. Please note that while all skeins are dyed together, every skein of yarn is unique and there may be some slight variation between them. After dyeing, all yarn is washed and rinsed thoroughly, however, a small amount of color bleeding may still occur during the first wash.  

For best care, please gently hand wash in cold water with a wool wash and lay flat to dry. Store yarn in an area away from direct sunlight to help maintain color.

All photographs are taken in natural light, and I try to keep the editing to a minimum, but colors may vary from monitor to monitor. 

The wool used in this yarn is ethically produced from sheep that have NOT been mulesed.
